Friday 9th September – bike *** – Short two rivers, Orwell to the Deben including lunch at Landguard – mainly cloudy with a few showers.

Funny old day after the passing of the Queen, watched lots of TV, did my exercises before packing a picnic and heading down to the pier at Landguard hoping to avoid the showers that threatened! Enjoyed a yummy chicken sandwich watching the ‘Goliath’ Dredger and the Felixstowe ferry come in. A gull joined us for dinner too with a bit of a breeze blowing but it was offshore so not good for windsurfing today! Then back through the lovely Landguard nature reserve with hundreds of starlings tucking into the blackberries with several linnets too:) Back along the quiet prom with Mag heading up Bent Hill while I whizz onto the Ferry for a quick spin around the boat yard before taking the short route home with only a little light rain but some amazing Suffolk sky’s:)
We both loved the Kings speech, Maggie and I both said that Charles now looks like a King!

PS – we did get some great news today, our son Daniel with partner Jay are expecting a little girl early in the new year, so excited:)
